It is the highest civilian award of India. It is
presented by the Government of India.

It is presented for exceptional public service
and rarest achievements in the field of art, literature and science.

It was instituted in 1954 and the first
recipient was Dr. Radhakrishnan.
Padma Vibhushan
·
It is the second highest civilian honour for
distinguished services in any field including Government service.
·
This award is given for exceptional and
distinguished service in any field including service rendered by Government
servants. It is classified into three kinds:
1. Pehla
Varg;
2. Dusra
Varg;
3. Tisra
Varg.
Padma Bhushan
·
It is a decoration established on 2 January 1954
by the president of India. It is the third highest civilian awards
·
This award is given for distinguished service of
high order in any field including service rendered by Government servants.
The Padma Shri
This award is given for
distinguished service in any field including service rendered by the Government
servants.
Param Vir Chakra
·
It is India's highest award for bravery for
officers and other enlisted personnel of all military branches of India for the
highest degree of velour of self-sacrifice in the presence of the enemy on
land, at sea, or in the air.
·
It was introduced on 26th January 1950.
Maha Vir Chakra
It is the second highest
decoration and is awarded for the act of conspicuous gallantry in the presence
of the enemy on land, at sea, or in the air.
Vir Chakra
It is the third highest gallantry
award.
Ashok Chakra
·
It is the highest peace-time gallantry award.
·
It is an Indian military decoration awarded for
valour, courageous action or self-sacrifice away from the battlefield.
·
It is the peace time equivalent of the Param Vir
Chakra.
Arjuna Award
·
The Arjuna Award was instituted in 1961 as the
highest national recognition for outstanding performance in sports and games in
the Olympics, Asian Games, Commonwealth Games, World cup, World Championship
and Cricket.
·
Only international level performance of
sportspersons will be taken into account when deciding the awards.
Dronacharya Awards
·
These were instituted in 1985 and given by
Sports Ministry, Government of India.
·
These are given to sports coaches. Every award
is given a cash prize of Rs. 2.50 lakhs.
Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna
It was instituted in 1962 and is
presented for commendable display by the players.
R. D. Birla Award
These awards are given in the
field of medical sciences.
Dhanvantri Award
These awards are given for the
extra ordinary performance in medical sciences.
Jawaharlal Nehru Award

Understanding is an international award presented by the Government of India

Man Booker Prize

best original full-length novel written in English Language by a citizen of
either the Common wealth of Nations or Ireland.
Pulitzer prize
·
The Pulitzer Prize is an American award
established by Joseph Pulitzer and regarded as the highest national honour in
Newspaper journalism, literary achievements and musical composition.

York City.
KALIDAS SAMMAN
·
The Kalidas Samman is a prestigious arts award
presented annually by the government of Madhya Pradesh.

This award is named after Kalidasa, a renowned
Classical Sanskrit writer, widely regarded as the greatest poet and dramatist
in the Sanskrit language.
·
It was first awarded in 1980.
·
It was awarded in the fields of Classical Music,
Classical Dance, Theatre and Plastic Arts.
·
The award is presented for outstanding
achievement in one of the four categories.
Mahatma Gandhi Peace Prize
·
It was instituted in 1995 by the Government of
India.
·
It is presented for international peace on the
lines of Nobel Prize.
·
UNESCO Human Right Award
·
It is also presented by UNESCO for contributions
in the field of Human Rights Awareness.
·
It is given every alternate year.
Saraswati Samman
It was instituted in 1991 by the
K. K. Birla Foundation and is given for any distinguished literary work made
during last 10 years in any of the Indian language.
Tansen Awards
These awards are given by the
Government of Madhya Pradesh for the outstanding contribution in the field of
music.
Vyas Samman
It was instituted in 1992 by K.
K. Birla Foundation for outstanding contribution to Hindi literature.
Jnanpith award:
The Jnanpith Award is a literary
award in India. Along with the Sahitya Akademi Fellowship, it is one of the two
most prestigious literary honours in the country. The award was instituted in
1961. Any Indian citizen who writes in any of the official languages of India
is eligible for the honour.
Magsaysay Awards
The Ramon Magsaysay Award is an
annual award established to perpetuate former Philippine President Ramon
Magsaysay's example of integrity in government, courageous service to the
people, and pragmatic idealism within a democratic society. The Ramon Magsaysay
Award is often considered Asia's Nobel Prize. The prize was established in
April 1957 by the trustees of the Rockefeller Brothers Fund based in New York
City with the concurrence of the Philippine government.
UNESCO Peace Prize
It is presented by United Nations
Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) for extraordinary
contributions for international peace.
World Food Prize
It is presented by Food and
Agriculture Organization (FAO), one of the branches of UNO, for the cause of
agriculture and food development.
Olympic Gold Order
It is presented by the
International Olympic Committee for distinguished services in the development
of the Olympic Movement.
Indira Gandhi Award for International Peace, Disarmament and Development
It is presented by Indira Gandhi
Memorial Fund for specialized contribution in the field of international
disarmament and development.
Sahitya Academy Awards
It was instituted in 1955 and is
given for any exclusive writing in any of the 22 languages including English
literature during last 5 years.
Murtidevi Award
It was constituted in 1948 and is
given in any Indian language or in English literature, for distinguished
contribution to Indian values.
Dadasaheb Phalke Award
The Dadasaheb Phalke Award is
India's highest award in cinema given annually by the Government of India for
lifetime contribution to Indian cinema.
